ADSC-ACRC JOINT SEMINAR
Advanced Digital Sciences Center (ADSC) of Illinois at Singapore and A*STAR Computational Resource Centre (ACRC) invite you to attend this special seminar aimed to present NCSA's Blue Waters, a Petascale machine, the fastest supercomputer on a university campus and the challenges of scaling applications on tens of thousands of nodes.
Dr. Cristina Beldica, Associate Director at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign
Dr. Cristina Beldica is Associate Director at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC). She serves as the Executive Director and co-principal investigator of the $360M NSF-funded Blue Waters Petascale computer project.
The Blue Waters system is capable of sustained petaflop performance and designed to meet the compute-intensive, memory-intensive, and data-intensive needs of a wide range of science and engineering applications. Prior to joining Blue Waters project, she worked on other large cyber infrastructure projects like the Dark Energy Survey (DES), Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST), and the Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES). Dr. Beldica began her career at NCSA as a research scientist for Computational Structural Mechanics. Her research interests include characterization of finite elements, meshless methods for computational mechanics, viscoelastic materials, linear and nonlinear stress analysis, fracture properties of reinforced composites. Dr. Beldica holds a Ph.D. degree in Engineering Mechanics, a Master of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.
