A short 30-minute talk centred around case studies and rants from my perspective in the industry. Expect just enough technical details to raise awareness of the existing disparity and question if there are more “disasters” lying in wait.

[Bio] Sze Chuen Tan is currently an undergraduate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign who specialises in novel web application and network security research. He has worked with the Computer Security Lab at DSO National Laboratories (R&D arm of the Ministry of Defence in Singapore) on multiple projects and participates actively in industry conferences and discourses. He frequently presents research findings and conducts courses on key foundational concepts in computer security.
