Crisis Diplomacy: The View from Vienna
Vienna, Austria
Now is a good time to start seriously thinking about study abroad for the summer, and Thanksgiving is a good time to talk to parents or others about doing this. There will be an information session right after break on Wed., Nov 28 at 7:00pm in Rm 130 Wohlers Hall for the Summer political science course in Vienna, PS 394 Crisis Diplomacy. The course is taught by Prof. Vasquez and counts for an upper-level in political science, global studies (global governance track) and the ACDIS certificate in Global Security. It will be offered during Summer Session I, approximately May 13-June 8, 2013 in Austria. The course visits a number of international organizations in Vienna including OPEC, IAEA (international atomic energy agency), the US mission to the UN in Vienna, and the OSCE (Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe). The course also examines diplomacy and European foreign policy decision making historically looking at the Italian wars of independence in 1859, World War I, and World War II, among others. Long weekends provide an opportunity to travel in Europe.
Contact Prof. Vasquez for more information: vasqueja@illinois.edu.
