The author will discuss U.S.-Latin American relations in the context of both domestic politics--the upcoming presidential elections in the U.S.--and global diplomacy, in particular what seems to be the fast unraveling of the U.S. Regional alliance system, on which Washington has for decades rested its foreign policy. Greg Grandin discusses the agenda of the Democrat and Republicans parties toward the region.
