This conference will bring together regional college faculty with the aim of increasing research on and teaching of the European Union at universities and four-year and two-year colleges in Illinois and the Midwest. It will facilitate the building of a dynamic network for regional educators with interests in EU studies. The conference will include panel discussions in which participants can present their research on the EU, as well as sessions on effective teaching of EU-related subjects.
In response to feedback about previous faculty working conferences, this year we will be organizing a pre-conference workshop devoted to providing an introductory overview of governmental institutions, foreign, and social policies of the EU. This portion of the workshop will take place during the afternoon on January 25 and is open to all working conference attendees, but is especially intended to help orient those participants who do not specialize in the EU.
