Physics - Colloquium

I will give a self-contained introduction to the random events that arise in studying the properties of DNA sequences and chromatin structure, highlighting potential applications of techniques from statistical physics. In particular, I will describe stochastic biases in DNA sequencing and statistical positioning of nucleosomes in yeast. My goal will be to make the first sentence of this abstract understandable to everyone in the audience by the end of my talk. No prior knowledge in biology will be assumed.
