As computational tools increase in capability, and decrease in

difficulty, the process of discovery in computational astrophysics is

changing.  In this talk, I will describe a particular application of

these computational tools: understanding the formation of the first

stars and galaxies.  I will continue by describing the self-organizing

communities that are growing around software and computational tools,

spanning both academic institutions and fields of study, and possible

future directions for these communities.
