Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 16, 2014, for a very special event to celebrate Dr. Matt Wallig’s achievements during his 27 years of teaching, research and service at the University of Illinois. We would like to acknowledge his many contributions to the Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, College of Veterinary Medicine; the Division of Nutritional Sciences, College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences; and to the disciplines of toxicology and pathology as a whole. As part of the September 16 celebration, a mini-symposium is being organized. We have invited several speakers to address various aspects of his role in the field of toxicologic pathology and nutritional research, as well as his influence as a mentor (details to follow). The symposium will be held in 2271c of the Veterinary Medicine Basic Sciences Building (VMBSB) from 1 PM to 3 PM, followed by a reception in the 2nd floor atrium of the VMBSB. Please think about your past experiences with Matt to share with him in a letter, card, photograph (jpeg preferred), memento or even email. Please send these remembrances to Dr. Elizabeth Driskell (edriskel@illinois.edu). In lieu of a personal retirement gift, we are establishing a fund to support pathology resident/graduate student travel, etc. Additional information will follow.
