With a detecting area of one square kilometer and baselines extending beyond 3000 kilometers, the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) will be the world''s largest and most sensitive radio telescope. With a group of talented individuals working to overcome many of the SKA's difficult problems, there are many interesting aspects in its development. We will discuss the progress made by the SKA Organization by reviewing the characteristics of the interferometer, its pathfinders and precursors, and the scientific significance of the project.
