A brief overview of Windows networking, including Windows Hyper-V network virtualization for the hybrid cloud, by Anrew Ritz from Microsoft

Come learn about the sorts of technologies and problems that exist in Windows networking, which run the gamut from mobile devices to enterprise networks and the cloud. We'll also dive deep into the world of data center networking. In Windows Server 2012, a major area of focus in networking was providing support for running multi-tenant workloads in a hybrid cloud. This talk reviews the key scenarios for a hybrid cloud, and how Windows networking was optimized for the hybrid cloud. We review enhancements to the Hyper-V Extensible switch for multi-tenancy, and the architecture of Windows Hyper-V Network Virtualization.

An ECE ILLINOIS grad, Andrew Ritz (BSCompE '96) is the development manager for core networking in Windows, which provides the heart of secure, simple, and scalable communications for mobile devices, enterprise networks, and the cloud. He helped enable network communications for Windows 8, and helped redefine the networking for private/public/hybrid cloud through Hyper-V Network Virtualization and Hyper-V Extensible switch. Andrews is a 16-year Microsoft veteran, he was previously the development manager for the Windows Kernel, working on a number of server scalability projects, innovating on power management for mobile devices, and helping provide the abstraction layer between core platform hardware and Windows.
