"With the introduction of new media (radio and later television) at the beginning of the 20th century, the efficiency of the codex book was questioned as a means to transfer knowledge. In this lecture, I will discuss the views of knowledge organization pioneer Paul Otlet (1868-1944) on the future of the book as a collective scientific endeavor." The History Salon is a forum for the exchange of ideas about the history of books, libraries, and information. Activities are free and open to the public.
