Women and Gender in Global Perspectives Program (WGGP)

Gessen will talk about the creation of Putin’s ideology, beginning with the antigay campaign, ballooning into a civilizational mission, and culminating with war - whether in Ukraine or in Syria – “against the United States.” The lecture will be of great interest to a diverse, interdisciplinary audience within our academic community, and all those interested in questions of human rights and political power, the nature of authoritarian rule, LGBT issues in a global framework, and public discourse.
