The Center for Teaching Excellence is dedicated to promoting, enhancing, and assessing teaching effectiveness and student learning. We assist faculty, academic units, and teaching assistants in improving instruction. In addition to the events listed below, we are always available for individual consultations or special activities within a department or college. Most of the workshops count toward CTE certificate program continuing education credit. Please check back often to see what events have been added. More and more institutions are asking applicants for faculty positions to submit a teaching philosophy statement with their applications. Some of CTE's teaching certificates also require a teaching philosophy statement. This statement should reflect you and your teaching, but you may be unsure of where to begin or how to start. This workshop will guide you through the necessary steps to arrive at a statement that truly reflects your thoughts on teaching. Even if you are not getting ready for the job market or working on a certificate, you may also find this workshop useful if you are interested in reflecting on teaching. You may bring your lunch.
