The Center for Teaching Excellence is dedicated to promoting, enhancing, and assessing teaching effectiveness and student learning. We assist faculty, academic units, and teaching assistants in improving instruction. In addition to the events listed below, we are always available for individual consultations or special activities within a department or college. Most of the workshops count toward CTE certificate program continuing education credit. Please check back often to see what events have been added. Want reminders of what teaching sessions are coming up soon? Join our CTE listserv by sending an e-mail message (must be from your University of Illinois address) to listserv@illinois.edu, and in the body of the message write only the following:  subscribe CTE-L

Want to collaborate with colleagues on campus or in Cleveland or Cairo? Are your students working on group projects? Want to serve on committees with fewer meetings? Technology can help manage the details of circulating documents and collaborative writing--among your students and with your colleagues. Some general principles include: sharing documents, commenting and discussing drafts, making sure everyone is looking at the right version of the document, and managing permissions. We will learn all these as they apply to the CITES Wiki in particular, and also discuss a number of different technologies including Microsoft Word and other editors, Illinois Compass 2g, the Campus Wiki, and Box.net, Google Docs, and more.
