Award-winning filmmaker Theo Rigby will screen five of his short films addressing immigration and undocumented communities, including portions of his current work-in-progress, Sanctuary. Sanctuary connects present-day work for immigrants' rights with archival footage of and interviews with people involved in the 1980's Sanctuary movement, in which many different faith-based groups in the U.S. created a national network to support Central American regugees fleeing violent conflict. By loooking specifically at the struggles and triumphs of undocumented and refugee communities, Rigby's films examine how communites understand their moral and ethical obligations to provide aid and protection to others. A disucussion and Q&A with Theo Rigby will follow the screenings.
