Computer science alumna Ping Fu co-founded Geomagic, whose innovative software tools hve fundamentally changed the way products are designed and manafactured worldwide. Geomagic's software has guaranteed the safety of the Space Shuttle Discovery, transformed the hearing aid and dental device industries, re-created engine manifolds for NASCAR, and more. Earlier this year, 3D Systems acquired Geomagic; Fu joined as chief strategy officer.
In 2005, Inc. magazine named Fu "Entrepreneur of the Year." Since 2010, she's served on the National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship board at the White House and is a member of the National Council on Women in Technology. Her memoir, Ben, Not Break, published in 2012, showcases Fu's personal and entrepreneurial resilience, from her experiences growing up during China's Cultural Revolution to her time at ILLINOIS and the launch - and success - of Geomagic.
