Paul Magelli Jr. worked in management positions at heavyweights like Boeing, AT&T, and Lucent Techologies. Then, in 2003, he co-founded Apertio, a manufacturer of infrastructure software systems based in Bristol, England. "I wouldn't go back to a corporate middle-management job. I deeply enjoy seeing our everyday actions grow and shape our business. I also enjoy spending a majority of time working on things that are important to...our customers and our team, rather than on clearing internal hurdles," Magelli says. His company has gone from $5 million in sales in 2004 to more than $25 million in 2006 and now has regional headquarters in Malaysia and Chicago. Its customers include T-Mobile, Vodafone, and India-based telecom company Bharti.
