Abstract and Bio:

Martin Neumann, PhD, is a BS '99, MS '04, and PhD'07 graduate of NPRE and is a technology manager at View, which is leading the glass industry in bringing smart windows to market.  Electrochromic windows are on the verge of changing work, living, and travel space as society knows it.  Dr. Neumann will talk not only about the physics of electrochromic technology, the role that plasma engineers play in this, but also will relate the experiences of working and growing a Silicon Valley startup through its first full scale production facility.  This will be both a technical and a career path seminar.  Over the last five years, View has evolved from a company focused on development of Dynamic GlassTM to one ready for high volume manufacturing and global deployment. View's name aligns with our vision: that a clear view is the beginning, the catalyst really, of amazing things. Smarter buildings and homes. Productive workplaces. Inspired education. Faster healing. Energy efficiency. Design freedom. We see possibilityTM everywhere we look.
