SUMMARY:QI/AMO Seminar: "Normal state of highly polarized Fermi gases: fu
 ll many-body treatment"
CREATED:20091019T120000Z
DESCRIPTION:We present an analytical treatment of a single down-atom with
in a Fermi sea of up-atoms. Our treatment amounts essentially to an exa
ct solution of this problem. This is done both when the attractive intera
ctionis strong enough to produce a bound state\, dressed by the Fermi se
a\, or when it is slightly weaker\,leading to a dressed down-atom (a 'po
laron'). Whenever our results can be compared toother methods\, analytic
al or numerical (Monte-Carlo)\, the agreement is excellent. The success o
f our approach is due to its natural incorporation of a large number of
contributions which displaya nearly perfect destructive interference.
