DESCRIPTION:The Shalamar Baghs in Delhi\, Lahore\, and Srinagar are herit
 age sites that represent a shared artistic and cultural legacy of Mughal
  landscape design in the subcontinent that transcends national and regio
 nal boundaries. Each of them has had innovative conservation interventio
 ns and pressing challenges in recent years. The renowned "Shalamar Baghs
 " as individual historic gardens provide a stimulating yet grounded star
 ting point for wider conversations on cultural landscape heritage conser
 vation in South Asia.  This workshop will convene leading historians and
  conservation architects to identify common issues and priorities for la
 ndscape heritage conservation theory and practice. The panel will be fol
 lowed by a round table discussion on formulating a planning framework an
 d possible collaborative projects that could be applicable to historic g
 arden sites in South Asia.
