A stage director, award winning actor and nationally recognized theatre educator, Nancy Houfek was Head of Voice and Speech for the Tony Award winning American Repertory Theater at Harvard from 1997 to 2014, teaching vocal production, coaching the professional acting company, and administering the M.F.A. program in voice training pedagogy.
Nancy holds a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.F.A. from San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater, where she remained as an actor, director and coach for nearly a decade. She has also held faculty or guest positions at the University of Washington, the Drama Studio of London, Southern Methodist University and the University of Minnesota. Nancy is a Master Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework.
In 1999, Nancy began a collaboration with Lee Warren of the Kennedy School of Government to create series of workshops designed to help women with negotiation and leadership challenges: Strong Women/Strategic Performance has now been presented to more than one hundred institutions and professional groups throughout the U.S. and Canada.
