The Cancer Center at Illinois will hold its 2nd annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on April 25, 2024, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Beckman Institute atrium. Undergraduate students from CCIL research programs will present posters highlighting their research experiences.

Most research agrees that while social media promotes community engagement, it can also increase the spread of misinformation. There is less consensus in the literature on how much, and under what circumstances misinformation spreads. To examine the role of social media in urban design, I use recent dialogue on the addition of a bike lane in Washington DC.

Max Winga is a senior studying engineering physics who has shifted focus over the last two years to work on AI safety. He has devoted much of his time and energy towards studying AI and engaging with the thinking of experts across the field of AI. Like many of the top AI researchers, he is working to sound the alarm about the threats that AI might pose.

Woese Institute for Genomic Biology will host Luisel Ricks-Santi for a seminar titled "Molecular Epidemiology of Triple Negative Breast Cancer in African American Women." Ricks-Santi is a research member at the University of Florida Health Cancer Center and the Associate Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
