Call for Nominations for IIP International Achievement Awards

Call for nominations for International Achievement Awards

Honor and celebrate the accomplishments of deserving alumni, faculty, and current students for their globally-focused work and/or scholarship with a nomination for the International Achievement Awards.

It’s that exciting time of year again—when campus comes back to life and we welcome thousands of the very best students, scholars, and faculty from all over the world to our great university. It’s also that time of year when we reach out to ask for your help nominating potential winners for our prestigious international achievement awards, which we celebrate at a formal Illinois International banquet every April. These five different awards provide us all with a remarkable opportunity to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of deserving alumni, faculty, and current students for their globally-focused work and/or scholarship.

Several years ago, a gift from Madhuri and Jagdish Sheth established an award that recognizes the exceptional achievement of an international University of Illinois graduate. The Sheths envisioned an award that would promote the university’s significant international reach. Over the ensuing years, the campus has built on this vision by creating several additional awards. First, the Office of the Provost instituted a faculty award for distinguished international achievement. Then, in 2005, the Office of the Associate Provost for International Affairs created three new awards: the first recognizes international achievement by a young alum doing humanitarian work; the second recognizes international achievement or service by a University graduate student; and finally, a third award was created as a companion to the graduate award for undergraduate international service or achievement.

Nominations for all five awards will be due September 30, 2016.  Please encourage your faculty to submit a nomination for one or more of these awards. Selection criteria and nomination forms for all five awards may be found on the Illinois International website here.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact the office of Illinois International Programs Global Communications and Protocol team at 244-7657.
