CSL Student Conference
 

The CSL Student Conference committee is looking for exceptional students and postdocs to present their work at the 12th Annual CSL Student Conference on February 15-17, 2017.

Our annual student-run conference features invited talks by distinguished speakers and excellent students, job fair with top-notch companies, and a brand-new robotics demonstration session! Showcase your research ideas related but not limited to: Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics; Information Processing Circuits and Systems; Decision and Control, Systems, and Networks; and Machine Learning and Signal Processing. 

All interested candidates working in relevant fields are welcome to apply by submitting an abstract (3,800 characters) here. The deadline is this Friday, December 2.

Gropp has been named the recipient of the 2016 ACM/IEEE Computer Society Ken Kennedy Award for "highly influential contributions to the programmability of high performance parallel and distributed computers, and extraordinary service to the profession." ITI researchers Lin-Yu Lu (Steven) and Hao Jan Liu (Max), along with ITI and Electrical and Computer Engineering Assistant Professor Hao Zhu, were recently awarded the 2nd best paper award at the 2016 North American Power Symposium (NAPS).

The annual conference highlights the work of many graduate students and is focused on studies related to the power and energy systems and their components. Lu and Liu’s paper examined optimizing and securing the operations of microgrids. Read more.

For his groundbreaking research, Joseph Lyding, a professor of electrical and computer engineering, recently was awarded the Foresight Institute Feynman Prize for experimental work. On Thursday at 10:30 a.m., join us online for a Facebook live video of the Intelligent Robotics Lab! Follow CSL on Facebook to watch and participate in a live Q&A. If you miss it at 10:30, the video will be available to view afterward.

During the video, we will tour the lab and watch a live drone demo with lab manager Bo Liu. The IRL is a shared lab space at CSL, available for all university researchers to use for various robotics research.

 
Special CSL Social Hour this Friday

The CSL Social Hour Organizing Committee is very excited to announce this week’s special social hour talk by CSL professors Naresh Shanbhag and Andrew Singer. They will provide an overview of SONIC (Systems On Nanoscale Information fabriCs) group activities. The event will be held on Friday, December 2 at 3:00 p.m. in CSL 369.
