Dear Uni family,

It is with sorrow I am informing you that Ned Goldwasser has passed away.

As Provost, Professor Goldwasser was instrumental in saving Uni when it looked as though Uni might close after its split with the College of Education.  Several of his children attended Uni, and he was a true champion of the school.

I am glad that we were able to honor him with an all-school assembly a few years ago.  What a tremendous man.

Announcing the Ang Family Endowment

Uni High is pleased to announce a generous new endowment, the Ang Family Endowment. Our benefactors are Professor Alfredo and Mrs. Mae Ang, parents of Evelyn Ang ('72), Irene Strohbeen ('74) and James Ang ('77.)  Professor Ang was a beloved and renowned professor of structural engineering and wrote  300 publications in the field.  He also won many of the top awards at UI, in the nation, and abroad while holding high offices in his professional organizations.

In addition, the Ang family is contributing above and beyond the endowment to provide funds for immediate use.

The endowment will be used to enhance and promote the excellence of teaching and instruction and of academic programs at University of Illinois Laboratory High School, including but not limited to teacher stipends to attract and retain the very best educators possible.

Uni is thankful for the generosity of the Ang family and our many other donors who make what we do every day possible!
