Central Black Student Union (CBSU) Cotton Club Variety Show: Saturday, February 18, 2017, 2:30pm at Foellinger Auditorium
The Cotton Club Variety Show is annual production hosted by the Central Black Student Unions that serves as a tribute to African-American performers. This year’s theme “Showtime at the Apollo” will highlight a rich history and culture of music and contribution to the arts.
Food For the Soul—Kid Cudi to Kanye: Black Masculinity and Mental Health:, Wednesday, February 22, 2017, 12pm at BNAACC
Food for the Soul is part of the weekly OIIR Lunch On Us conversations. This week’s conversation is centered around a stigmatized, yet relevant topic of the mental health of African American men prompted by social media and black men in popular culture. It will serve as a safe space to openly discuss mental wellness as well as the importance of self and community care.

2017 Black and Latino Male Summit: Saturday, February 25, 2017, 9am-4pm at I-Hotel and Conference Center.
This year’s theme is “Reviving Our Roots: The Cultivation of the Afro-Latino Diaspora”. This year’s summit strives to provide a forum for Black and Latino men to discuss the role of history in today’s Black and Latino male experience. The Summit is open to all and is free to UIUC students. It is a great precursor to a continued conversation that will take place during the Black and Latina Womyn Summit in April.

新年快樂! Happy Lunar New Year, the Year of the Rooster!!! Armory House residents celebrated Lunar New Year by writing traditional Chinese couplets in calligraphy on red banners, practicing the art of Chinese paper cutting and enjoying an authentic Lunar New Year dinner. Good luck this Rooster Year to ALL!

Some residents of Newman Hall took a study break to the hit the ice! There's quite a bit going on at Newman including a swing dance this Friday, Feb. 4 featuring live music from one of UIUC’s Jazz bands. Newman residents are also having an up incoming folk musician perform Saturday, Feb. 5.
In partnership with the McKinley Foundation, Presby Hall has created an exhibition space for wall-mounted art. This space will be open to students as well as to local artists, to exhibit their work on a non-permanent basis.If you are interested in having your work displayed, please email email@example.com
