The Illini Union Office of Volunteer Programs (OVP) is accepting nominations for its annual Volunteer Service Recognition Awards. Each year, students, RSOs, and campus employees are recognized for their volunteer and service efforts on-campus, in the community, and around the world. This is your chance to recognize those who volunteer and serve on campus or in the community. Submit individual, group, and self-nominations by Sunday, March 5 at http://go.illinois.edu/volunteeraward.
Join the OVP, OIIR International Education, and International Student and Scholars Services (ISSS) on a one day service and sightseeing trip to St. Louis on Saturday, April 1. Students will volunteer with Helping Hand Me Downs and visit the City Museum and Forest Park. The trip costs only $45 per individual. Complete an application by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 5 at http://go.illinois.edu/iENGAGE.
Volunteer at the 5th Annual Community & Campus Day of Service. Sign up individually or with a team to help package 150,000 meals for Eastern Illinois Food Bank. For more information go to http://dayofservice.cuvolunteer.org/.
Join service projects on Saturdays during the academic year to give back to the Champaign-Urbana community. Volunteer opportunities provided through Service Saturdays are easy-access and typically one-time projects. The projects are organized by either OVP, campus groups, or community agencies. Thirty-five participants networked and discussed ways to plan and execute a successful fundraiser or philanthropy event.
As part of an iENGAGE one-day service and sight-seeing trip, 44 participants set out for Springfield, IL, and volunteered either at Habitat for Humanity or Sisters Mission Hospital outreach during the morning. In the afternoon, the combined group visited the Illinois State Capitol building and the Lincoln Presidential Museum. View pictures from the event in our Facebook album.
iENGAGE: Service Saturday
Thirty-nine participants volunteered at Stratton Elementary School in Champaign and helped youth from the school with color painting for their coral reef project, and learned about the volunteering opportunities in Champaign-Urbana area during the reflection activity after the service.
