2017-2018 School Year OVP Staff Positions

OVP is hiring undergraduate office staff positions for the 2017-18 school year for office hours Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm with some evening and weekend hours. Applicants must be available throughout Welcome Weekend—Friday, August 25, Saturday, August 26, and Sunday, August 27 and attend mandatory staff meetings outside of work hours on Mondays from 4 - 5 pm (once every two weeks). School year student employees work regular office hours as well as special events that occur in the mornings, evenings, and on weekends. Applicants must be enrolled in Fall 2017 classes at the start of employment. Starting pay rate is $8.25/hr.

Join the OVP, OIIR International Education, and International Student and Scholars Services (ISSS) on a one day service and sightseeing trip to St. Louis on Saturday, April 1. Students will volunteer with Helping Hand Me Downs and visit the City Museum and Forest Park. The trip costs only $45 per individual. Email with subject line "STL Trip" for availability.

Join student leaders from across campus and our guests from Champaign-Urbana community organizations for a speed-networking event on Wednesday, April 12 from 5-7 p.m. Facilitated by the Office of Volunteer Programs, speed networking will allow you to meet and collaborate with leaders across campus and our surrounding community. This experience is meant for passionate volunteers, members of service RSOs, and student leaders. This is a free event for Illinois students. Food is provided. Limited spots available, apply now!


Spend a weekend in Louisville, KY serving, exploring the city, and making new friends. Participants will be volunteering in the Mayor’s Give-A-Day Project which helps with the repair and beautification of Louisville. The trip is from Friday, April 21 to Sunday, April 23, and only costs $70 per individual. All trip participant applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 3. Need help recruiting volunteers? The Office of Volunteer Programs is here to help you advertise your event by posting it on our weekly email sent out to university students. Additionally, we are creating marketing posters that include many volunteer opportunities available during the National Volunteer Week and advertising these around campus.

Milwaukee Weekend Service Trip

Twelve trip participants ventured to Milwaukee to volunteer with the City On a Hill organization, participate in teambuilding activities with Lake Valley Camp, and visit the Milwaukee Art Museum and Public Market during a weekend service trip. Check out our Facebook album from the weekend.

Campus Connections

Krannert Art Museum offers a lunchtime yoga series Fridays at noon when classes are in session. Each Yoga at the Museum session is free and open to the public.

The entire family is invited to campus to enjoy Moms Weekend with your student. Some activities require registration, so make sure to check the event descriptions below for details. With so many different activities planned, there will be something of interest for everyone! Holi is a really exciting Indian festival celebrating the liveliness of spring. It is one of the most fun-filled and enjoyable Indian festivals. Traditionally during Holi, people use colors and try to color their friends before the friends manage to color them. A few minutes into the celebrations, everyone looks like a canvas of colors - hence the name "Festival of Colors."

Come join us on Saturday, April 15 from Noon-5 p.m. at the Complex Fields (located at the corner of Florida and Lincoln). Tickets are available.
