Join the OVP, OIIR International Education, and International Student and Scholars Services (ISSS) on a one day service and sightseeing trip to St. Louis on Saturday, April 1. Students will volunteer with Helping Hand Me Downs and visit the City Museum and Forest Park. The trip costs only $45 per individual. RSO & On-Campus Opportunities
Volunteer to help remove honeysuckle and other invasive brush from UPD natural areas. This will include cutting, pulling, hauling, and stacking brush. Please dress accordingly. Tools, gloves, instruction, and refreshments will be provided. The date and time is as follows March 25 (9-11am at Meadowbrook Park; 1-3pm at Perkins Road Wet Prairie). Kirby Avenue Pop-Up Food Pantry - March 29
Come out and volunteer at the Kirby Avenue Pop-Up Pantry by helping set-up food for distribution, helping clients "shop", and by cleaning up at the conclusion of the distribution. The shift will run from 3:30-6:15 p.m., and volunteers must provide their own transportation unless you can carpool. Please email email@example.com if you would like to volunteer for this event. You must also complete a volunteer registration form in order to register as a volunteer for their organization before signing up. Although this event is every Wednesday through the month of March, most spots are already filled, but there are a few left for March 29th! Oversee your own meal-packaging line and help facilitate the 2017 Community and Campus Day of Service! Our goal this year is to package 150,000 meals with around 1,600 volunteers, to donate to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. Table Captains are crucial to the success of the Day of Service, as they train volunteers, keep the event running smoothly, and help set up the stadium. Accepting applications now! We need volunteers to work at the Virginia Theatre Festival (April 19 - 23, 2017). Multiple volunteers are needed for each film and can sign up for only the shifts (concessions, ushers, merchandise sale, ticket takers, will call, check-in, etc) that fit your schedule. We will have a mandatory on-campus training session the afternoon of Sunday, April 2 (exact time and location will be communicated closer to date). The Society for Hooved Animal Rescue and Emergency (SHARE) has about 50 horses at their facility and needs individual volunteers, ages 16 and up, to help with morning and afternoon chores and horse grooming (7-9am and 4-6pm). Salt & Light's low-cost thrift store and food co-op serve local families in need by making food, clothing, furniture, and other household items available to anyone through the use of member credit. Volunteers help operate the stores, serve customers, stock shelves with food, and process and prepare donations on Monday through Saturday from 9am-8pm. Girl Scouts Cookie Delivery - Now To March 24
Girl Scout Cookie Season is coming soon! We need volunteers to help us sort, unload, and distribute cookies at our Cookie Warehouse located just north of UIUC campus on Lincoln Avenue. We are looking for volunteers for 2-3 hour shifts on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from February 8th through March 24th. When the Foodbank receives food in bulk we have to repackage that product into smaller forms for our agencies to give out to individuals and families in need. We will be holding repacks on both March 16 and March 28 from 5:30-7:30pm. All repacks are held at the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. To sign up, go here.

Campaña de Salud is an annual, free health fair initiated by students of the UIUC College of Medicine Medical Students and community partners that is totally free to the local community. It will be held Sunday, April 2nd from 2 pm to 5pm at the Parish Center @ St. Mary Catholic Church. There will be medical screenings, health education, giveaways and more.
We are excited to announce that the CGI U 2017 meeting will take place at Northeastern University this fall from October 13-15. Hosted by President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton, the 10th annual CGI U meeting will gather more than 1,000 innovative student leaders to address some of the world's most pressing challenges. - Summer Service Scholars (SSS) Internship Program: SSS is an academic internship program in New York’s State Capital through the Siena College that runs from May 30 to July 28, and provides participants with engaging and valuable experience working with nonprofits, and an opportunity to discuss about social justice. In conjunction with their full-time service, participants enroll in a Siena College course called "Internships in Community Development" that meets once a week and focuses on professional and community development.
