ILLINI LIFE

a total solar eclipse

Illinois counts down to the total solar eclipse — The last time the state of Illinois witnessed a total solar eclipse the University of Illinois was just two years old—148 years ago. Said one U of I astronomer in anticipation of the Aug. 21 event, “It just grabs you around the heart.” This image of a total solar eclipse was taken on Sept. 3, 2016, in Indonesia.
