Salih Brkic is a war crimes investigative journalist from Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has been a professional journalist for more than 37 years with a strong focus on Srebrenica, his "wound." He has made the documentaries Lovac Na Pravdu (Hunter: Return to Justice), which NBC has filmed; Nermine; Lampa iz Spilje PoljaUbijali Su i Nerodenu DjecuSkorpioni Streljane Djece iz Srebenice; and 12 Godina Muke Fate Orlovic, which received an International Award and international acknowledgement.

European Union Horizon 2020 Proposal Workshop

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is sponsoring a workshop to assist Illinois researchers in developing collaborative proposals for Horizon 2020 funding. Our goal is to inform our campus research faculty and staff about available resources and opportunities for Illinois engagement with EU-sponsored research projects, and to facilitate a significant increase in our participation in EU-sponsored consortia.

As the shadow of the country's largest chemical factory looms large over their bleak industrial suburb, Monika (Tatiana Vilhelmová), Tonik (Pavel Liska), and Dasha (Anna Geislerová) hold out hope for a brighter future in another place.

Undergraduate Research Fellow Grants

The EUC is offering three Undergraduate Research Fellow Grants in the amount of 200 €. These funds can be used to support the creation and presentation of research posters on EU-related topics, as well as to support travel to present these posters at a conference. Applicants from all disciplines are eligible.

Undergraduate Travel Grants to Participate in the University of North Carolina Brussels Summer Program

The EUC will be offering three travel grants to students participating in the University of North Carolina's EUCE Brussels Study Tour of EU Institutions. These EUC undergraduate travel grants provide funds to cover travel costs and accomodations associated with participating in the University of North Carolina's Brussels EU summer program. Undergraduate students in all disciplines and departments at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are eligible. Program dates: June 15-20, 2014. More information about the program itinerary will be available later in Spring 2014.
