Around the College

As usual, it has been a busy Spring at the College of Law. In addition to the events featured in the News section above, there were many other happenings around the College.

At the beginning of April, the College hosted “U.S. Solutions to Bankruptcy Problems,” a two-week training program on bankruptcy law for 34 members of the judiciary of Thailand. On April 8th, a select number of students participated in the annual Frederick Green Moot Court Honorary Round, with a celebration reception and dinner following the event at the Champaign Country Club. The College also hosted a reception to honor the four J.D. students and two LL.M students who received the 2013 Lisnek Awards. The month wrapped up with the 3rd Annual Criminal Law Symposium and a riveting session with the Illinois Innocence Project and Peggy Jo Jackson, a recently released prisoner who was granted a commutation of sentence.

We kicked off the month of May with a special edition of Peer's Pub on May 1st - Thank a Donor Day. Students were invited to sign cards and posters thanking our generous supporters, and many had the opportunity to participate in our year-end appreciation video for alumni and friends. The College also announced Patrick Fitzgerald as our convocation speaker, and we celebrated the Class of 2014 at Convocation the weekend of May 17, 2014.
