The Illinois Domain Project has two important pieces of information to pass along regarding SSL certificates:

1. At  the request of the Office of the Chancellor, CITES Security will no longer grant SSL certificates for new UIUC domains/sites. Existing sites may continue to request certificate renewals. This policy is effective immediately. To request an exception, please contact the Illinois Domain Project by e-mail at illinoisdomainproject@illinois.edu. Include the specific reasons why the exception is being requested. Please note that requesting an exception does not guarantee one will be granted.
2. The Illinois Domain Project is extending the period new SSL certificate requests in the illinois.edu domain will be honored at no charge. The current policy is set to expire August 14, 2009.
