Professor Emeritus Bob Henderson: When I retired, I became rich.

With more than 30 years of service to the University of Illinois College of Education – including two stints as chairman of the Department of Special Education, 1964-71 and 1981-87 – Bob Henderson switched from collecting a paycheck to a pension check around 1993.
He didn't really retire. He's still in his UI office about three hours a day, sending e-mails to people all over the world whom he
has met through an organization he founded in 1990 called the Division of International Special Education and Services.
With the addition of "emeritus" to his name came an epiphany.
"As I retired, I became rich," he said.
