Alumni Event April 29, 2017 Sunda: Fusion of Food and Culture

You are invited to an extraordinary dining experience at Sunda, an award-winning restaurant featuring America’s new
Asian cuisine.

The afternoon will begin with a reception featuring a signature drink created by owner and alumnus Billy Dec (BA, '95, eco
nomics). Billy is an Emmy Award winner and TV personality, attorney, and CEO/founder of Rockit Ranch Productions. He will present a mixology demonstration, share his signature drink recipe, and tell us about his experience serving on President Obama’s White House Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

You’ll enjoy a lunch that’s a tasty and lively mix of Asian flavors that gives a modern twist on Filipino and Southeast Asian culinary traditions. You’ll meet our new dean, Feng Sheng Hu, who will share the latest news about the college. Martin Manalansan, head of the Department of Asian American Studies and author of "Eating Asian America: A Food Studies Reader," will enlighten you about the fusion of Asian culture and food.

We’ll end with prizes and a salute to the Department of Asian American Studies' 20th anniversary. The LAS Alumni Association is excited to offer you this unique opportunity. We hope to see you on Saturday, April 29 at Sunda!
