Attempted Robbery

The Champaign Police Department is investigating an attempted robbery and battery that occurred on January 22, 2010 at approximately 7:00 p.m. in the 300 block of East Springfield Avenue, Champaign. (map)

The victim was walking when two individuals approached from behind.  The offenders then attempted to take the victim’s property.  The victim resisted the attempt to take the property and was battered by the suspects.  The offenders then fled from the area.

The offenders were described as white males between the ages of 18 and 22.  One offender was 5 feet 07 inches tall with a thin build, wearing a stocking cap, leather jacket and baggy jeans.  The other offender was 5 feet 11 inches tall with a more muscular build.

The victim’s injuries included sourness, scrapes and bruising.
