Agricultural communications professor awarded ACES grant
Katie Abrams, visiting assistant professor of agricultural communications in the Department of Advertising, has been awarded a $4,000 grant award as part of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences' (ACES) Competitive Multi-State Planning Grant program. The monies will help facilitate the planning and writing of a federal grant proposal. The ACES grant will bring together principle investigators from Texas Tech University, University of Georgia, and the University of Illinois to continue working on the federal grant proposal, or the federal grant project if it is funded. The federal grant submitted for fiscal year 2011 is a USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture Beginning Farmers and Rancher Development Program.
"If funded, it would allow us to plan and deliver training on online and social media tools to beginning farmers and ranchers and research the effectiveness of various online tools in facilitating communication and marketing between these farmers and consumers," said Abrams.
