Leon Dash speaks to Times of Northwest Indiana staff
Esteemed University of Illinois professor Leon Dash visited The Times of Northwest Indiana's main office, located in Munster, Ind., on Wednesday, March 9. He spoke to the media center's staff about immersion journalism and enterprise reporting.
Dash captivated The Times' staff with background on how he developed his award-winning enterprise stories, including his Pulitzer Prize-winning story on Rosa Lee Cunningham.
"This is something the staff really craves," staff writer Kathleen Quilligan said.

Said Times Associate Publisher of Niche Publications Pat Colander '73 JOURN: "What a fascinating, charismatic person. It was a pleasure to meet him."
The visit was organized by Times assistant managing editor Justin Breen '99 JOURN, member of the College of Media Alumni Board.
"It was a special event," Breen said. "The staff is extremely excited to take the advice Prof. Dash provided and turn it into award-winning stories of our own."
