Agricultural communications professor awarded iCUBED grant for course development

Katie Abrams, visiting assistant professor of agricultural communications, has been awarded a 2011 iCUBED Curriculum Grant for $6,500. The grant will be used to develop an agricultural communications course entitled New Media Communications in Agriculture. The course will be offered Fall 2011 under ADV 400, and in future semesters as an AGCM (Ag Comm) course. "This new course will teach students about the social and economic impacts that various new and emerging communication tools on the agriculture industry and its information systems," said Abrams. Additionally, she explained it will teach students how to strategically plan and use new media in public relations for agriculture. The class is jointly supported by the Department of Advertising and the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences.
