Alumni association names two media graduates as 2011 Illini Comeback guests
The University of Illinois Alumni Association has announced this year's Illini Comeback guests. The program began in 1980 to honor prominent and accomplished alumni. Guests are invited to return to campus and interact with students, staff, and faculty through formal programs, classroom visits, and social activities held at Homecoming. The program is coordinated by the Student Alumni Ambassadors and sponsored by the UI Alumni Association.
Ryan G. Baker ’91 MEDIA is an Emmy-nominated sports reporter and is currently the sports director and lead sports anchor for WBBM-TV/CBS 2 in Chicago. He previously worked at WMAQ-TV/NBC 5 in Chicago, where he hosted “Sports Sunday” and the Chicago Bears pre- and post-game shows; at WKMG-TV in Orlando, Fla., where he was twice voted “Best Sportscaster” by Orlando Magazine; at KFMB-TV in San Diego; and at WCIA-TV and WICD-TV in Champaign.
Paul Schrage ’59 MEDIA is retired senior executive vice president and chief marketing officer of McDonald's Corp. In 1967, he established the company’s marketing department and introduced its famous Golden Arches logo. He is credited with spearheading many of the fast-food giant’s other key innovations, including drive-through service, breakfast, play areas for children, extra-value meals and creation of signature clown character Ronald McDonald. The University of Illinois honored him with the Alumni Achievement Award in 2003.
