JOUR Assistant Professor Ledford Presents at Mobile Development Conference
Assistant Professor of Journalism Charles "Stretch" Ledford has been invited to speak at Mobile Development Day 2013 at the iHotel and Conference Center in Champaign on Thursday, January 31. Ledford's presentation, "From Fish Wrap to the Frying Pan - Mobile Journalism for Fun if Not for Profit" will focus on his experience leading a group of 13 students from the colleges of Media, Engineering, Fine & Applied Arts and LAS as they developed "Virtual Dugout," the College of Media's first mobile app. Virtual Dugout provided Illini Baseball fans with an inside look at the team through video interviews, augmented reality and near real-time win probability statistics during games. It was available as a free download through the Apple App Store and Google Play during the team's 2012 season.
Mobile Development Day is a one-day conference spotlighting mobile-related entrepreneurship and development in Champaign-Urbana and beyond and is sponsored by The Research Park at the University of Illinois.
