Media students meet qualifications for membership in Phi Kappa Phi

Thirty-two students from the College of Media have met the qualifications for membership in the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Phi Kappa Phi is the only national honor society that is fully multidisciplinary and that opens its membership to all branches of learning. 

To gain membership students must meet the qualifications in one of the following categories:

  • Juniors having 72 to 89 graded hours with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.6 and scholastic rank in the upper 7.5% of their class;
  • Seniors having 90 or more graded hours with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.74 and scholastic rank in the upper 10% of their class; and,
  • Graduate students in good standing who have at least six graded units at the University of Illinois and a GPA of 4.00 or who have passed the preliminary examination for the doctorate with at least 10 graded units of "A" work and a GPA of 3.83 or better for all graduate work.
  • The National By-laws also provide that the number of undergraduate and graduate students elected to membership in any calendar year shall not exceed 10% of the number of candidates for degrees during that year.
