Wanted: Associate or Full Professor of Digital Media
The College of Media seeks an outstanding scholar with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in research and teaching on digital media. This is a tenured 9-month academic year joint appointment that requires interdisciplinary collaboration as well as the ability to teach across two units – advertising and journalism.
Successful applicants will teach current digital courses as well as develop conceptual courses and graduate seminars related to digital media, focusing on issues such as online search, social media, gaming, data analytics, economics, media practices, or media literacy.
This ideal candidate should hold a graduate degree in a field related to digital media (e.g. mass communication, information/computer science, business, economics); a record of high-quality research, publication, and teaching commensurate with experience; and a clear understanding of the digital landscape as it relates to advertising and journalism.
The College of Media is an internationally respected college where almost 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students are engaged in classes taught by distinguished scholars multiple disciplines. The College includes four undergraduate majors in Advertising, Agricultural Communications, Journalism, and Media and Cinema Studies; master’s degrees in Advertising and Journalism; undergraduate and graduate Cinema Studies minors; and a Ph.D. in Communications and Media. The College is also home to the Institute for Communications Research and Illinois Public Media (WILL-AM-FM-TV-Online), the public broadcasting service of the University of Illinois.
The position will begin on August 16, 2014. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
