Bastian Scholars Named for Spring 2011

The Global Studies program is pleased to announce the recipients of the Spring 2011 Bastian Scholarship:

Karolina Maslanka - Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
Kelsey McGrath - Granada, Spain

These students are participating in study abroad programs in which they will take courses with local students or live with local families/students, and thus maximize their target language and culture learning opportunities. In addition, both recipients intend to participate in volunteer experiences while they are abroad. The recipients have also demonstrated a strong commitment to international activities on campus through their associations with organizations like Microfinance Brigades, the East Central Illinois Refugee Mutual Assistance Center (ECIRMAC), UNICEF, and the Convopartners .
