Congratulations to Head Start Graduate Student Research Grant Recipient Dipti Dev

Dipti Dev, a doctoral student in DNS who has worked with the STRONG Kids Program for over two years, has received the Head Start Graduate Student Research grant from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services:  Administration for Children and Families (ACF) for her research project titled “Role of Head Start and Child Care Settings in Early Childhood Obesity: A Cumulative Risk Model”.

Grounded in the commitment to prevent childhood obesity, this multilevel and collaborative project will build on prior research conducted by the STRONG Kids longitudinal research initiative at University of Illinois to identify children at greatest risk of obesity; and also provide meaningful directions to improve childcare nutrition environments. The duration of the project is 2 years and the funding amount is $25,000 each year.  Ms. Dev's advisors are STRONG Kids Co-PI's Dr. Brent McBride and Dr. Sharon Donovan.
