Featured faculty: Cassandra Rosado, Linguistics (ESL)

Cassandra Rosado is in her fifth year as a lecturer in Linguistics. She also is currently the Teaching Coordinator for the ESL (English as a Second Language) Writing program.

Originally from upstate New York, Cassandra graduated from Marist College with a BA in Spanish, a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and a concentration in Bilingual Education/ESL. She earned her master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from the U of I.

This semester Cassandra is teaching two elective courses for international graduate students and visiting scholars: ESL 502 (Advanced Academic Writing), a course on thesis and dissertation writing and ESL 503 (Academic Presentation Skills), a course on academic presentation skills. Her work as the Teaching Coordinator includes working with the other ESL instructors on teacher training, professional development, classroom instruction, and technology in the classroom.

In her spare time, she likes to bake, travel, watch movies, hike, and work on craft projects. She's also currently working on researching her family tree.
