Illinois professor is one of Nature’s 10 People who Mattered for 2013
After U of I anthropologist Kate Clancy heard stories of female anthropologists being sexually harassed and assaulted during field research, she decided to look further into the matter and post about it on her blog. When those posts brought in more stories of academicians being abused, she realized the problem went beyond her discipline.
Clancy and her colleagues conducted a survey, and their results sounded an alarm across the country. Now that work has been recognized by Nature magazine, which named Clancy as one of their “ten people who mattered” in 2013.
