FREE Racquetball Clinic
Join nationally-certified racquetball instructors John O'Donnell and Bill Williamson on Thursdays, October 29-November 19, from 7-9pm for a free racquetball clinic. Campus Rec members can participate in one clinic and must sign up at ARC Member Services.
Instructors
John O’Donnell and Bill Williamson are both Ektelon-sponsored and nationally AmPro-certified racquetball instructors. They have played racquetball for over 40 years and have competed successfully at the national, regional and state levels. John is a many-time National U.S. Open singles champion for his age group. They have run clinics at Illinois and other campuses for more than a decade.
Information for Racquetball Clinic Participants
Clinics will be held at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC).
Participants who do not have their own racquets and eyeguards will have them provided during the clinic. These can also be checked out at Member Services.
The clinic covers the principal aspects of racquetball. Beginners will learn the rules and the various strokes (e.g., forehand, backhand, serve) and will play a mini-game. Advanced players will have a chance to work on all aspects of their games.
Each clinic begins at 7 p.m. and last about 90 minutes. Participants meet at the seating area next to the Climbing Wall on the Concourse Level. Come dressed for playing racquetball and, if possible, have a racquet and an eyeguard. Instructors will be able to provide racquets and eyeguards as needed. Each participant will be provided a racquetball.
