The Intensive English Institute is a full-time program for international students who want to develop skills needed in U.S. universities and those who want to build English skills for professional careers. We need native English-speaking volunteers who can commit one hour a week to meeting with 1 or 2 students one-on-one for casual conversation practice.
The Career Center is launching Career Closet, a program to provide Illinois students in need with free professional dress items for interviews and career fairs. Consider donating your gently used dress clothes, including suits, coats, slacks, ties, blouses, skirts and sweaters . Drop off items at The Career Center, 715 S. Wright St., starting Jan. 27 (Monday).

William T. Greenough, a professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Illinois and a pioneer in studies of brain plasticity and development, died Dec. 18 in Seattle, of complications associated with Lewy Body Dementia. As a researcher at Illinois, Greenough explored the neural basis of learning and memory and the effects of aging, exercise, injury and environmental enrichment on the brain.
