    At 5:45 p.m. March 9 at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, U. of I. student Arturo Rocha, 21, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. Store security personnel called police after seeing Rocha attempt to leave the store without paying for a textbook with a retail value of $79.

    U. of I. student Alexandra Garcia, 19, of Urbana, was arrested at 2:25 a.m. Friday in the 1400 block of West Gregory Drive, Urbana, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle initially was stopped because Garcia was drifting out of her lane.

    At 5:44 a.m. Thursday, a U. of I. student reported that he had been the victim of deceptive practices. The student was contacted by someone who purported to be the father of a person whom the student had met online. The father coerced the student to transfer $582.89 to the father under a false threat of prosecution.

    A man reported that his bicycle had been stolen Sunday at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $80, was locked to a rack.

    A U. of I. employee reported that a university-owned camera and lens had been stolen between March 12-14 from the Undergraduate Library, 1402 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana. The items, which have a total estimated value of $550, were not returned to a secured location after being checked in.

    At 6:40 p.m. Thursday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, U. of I. student Sarang Alladi, 19, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. Store security personnel called police after seeing Alladi attempt to leave the store without paying for an identification card holder with a retail value of $6.53

    A U. of I. student reported Saturday that his wallet had been stolen around 8:30 p.m. at the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The wallet was left unattended in a gym area.

    A U. of I. student reported that a video game console, controllers and playing cards had been stolen between Feb. 25-28 from Loomis Laboratory, 1110 W. Green St., Urbana. The items, which have a total estimated value of $145, were in a locked room.

    Bernard O. Joyner, 25, of Champaign, was arrested at 12:08 a.m. Tuesday at Weston Hall, 204 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign, for an outstanding city of Champaign warrant for failure to appear in court. A housing security officer called police after learning of the warrant.

    A U. of I. student reported that her wallet had been stolen between 6:45-7:45 p.m. Friday at the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The offender attempted two unauthorized transactions with the student’s debit card. Both were declined.

    At 7:03 p.m. Sunday, a U. of I. student reported that she had been receiving unwanted messages from a former co-worker since February. Police located the offender and issued him a no-trespassing notice for U. of I. property.

    Jordan T. Lowe, 19, of Collison, Illinois, was arrested at 5:49 a.m. Sunday at Willard Airport, 11 Airport Road, Savoy, Illinois, for three outstanding Vermilion County, Illinois, warrants for failure to appear in court. Lowe initially was stopped at a security checkpoint because his luggage contained prohibited items.

    At 12:37 p.m. Friday at Nugent Hall, 207 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign, a U. of I. employee reported that someone had made unauthorized charges to his debit card totaling $417.

    Keyonta C. Dunn, 22, of Champaign, was arrested at 4:36 a.m. Saturday near Third and Clark streets, Champaign, for unlawful possession of a firearm and defacing the identifying marks of a firearm. Dunn’s vehicle initially was stopped because he disobeyed a stop sign. After seeing a bag of cannabis on the floor and searching the vehicle, officers found a loaded handgun in the glove compartment. A passenger, Wardell A. Lawrence, 22, of Urbana, also was arrested for two outstanding Champaign County warrants for failure to appear in court.

    At 12:09 p.m. Saturday at Quicket Solutions, 60 Hazelwood Drive, Champaign, a man reported that an employee had stolen propriety software code and distributed it to a friend and to another company in India.

    Brandon D. Jordan, 28, of Urbana, was arrested at 1:34 a.m. Saturday at an apartment in the 900 block of West Springfield Avenue, Urbana, for driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident. Police were initially called by someone who saw Jordan driving with an orange traffic barricade attached to his car. Police found Jordan’s car parked in the apartment lot.

    At 9:25 a.m. Thursday at the Undergraduate Library, 1402 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana, a man reported that someone had drawn a blue swastika on an exterior wall. The graffiti was quickly removed.

    A U. of I. student reported that a pair of designer shoes had been stolen at 6:25 p.m. March 6 at the Student Dining and Residential Programs building, 301 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign. The student arranged to sell the shoes for $2,000, and payment was to be transferred via online transaction. After an in-person exchange of the shoes, the student received only $2, and the buyer has not returned messages.

    A U. of I. student reported that cash had been stolen from his wallet around 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana. When he recovered his lost wallet from the Illini Union lost and found, the cash was missing.

    At 8:40 a.m. Wednesday at the U. of I. Public Safety Building, 1110 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana, a man reported that someone had tampered with about 20 vending machines at various locations on campus. It is estimated that the offender had stolen about $600 total from the machines, and the cost to repair the damage caused by tampering is $797.

    A U. of I. student reported a jacket with an estimated value of $150 had been stolen between Feb. 28 and March 2 from a laundry room at Wassaja Hall, 1202 S. First St., Champaign. The student left a load of clothes in a dryer for several days.

    At 3:42 p.m. Tuesday, a U. of I. employee reported that someone had drawn a blue swastika on an exterior wall of the English Building, 608 S. Wright St., Urbana. The graffiti was quickly removed.

    A U. of I. employee reported that cash belonging to a student organization had been stolen between Feb. 24-25 from a locked office at Engineering Hall, 1308 W. Green St., Urbana.

    A U. of I. employee reported that a locker door had been damaged in an apparent theft attempt around 6:57 p.m. Sunday at Campus Recreation Center East, 1102 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana. The estimated cost to repair the locker is $100.

    At 9:25 p.m. Monday at Carr Hall, 1001 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Urbana, Deron S. Macon, 21, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for criminal trespass to state-supported property. Police initially were called by a resident adviser who smelled cannabis coming from a student’s room. Macon, who was in the room, had previously been issued a no-trespass notice for U. of I. property.

    Akim Suraji, 22, of Charleston, Illinois, was arrested at 1:08 a.m. Saturday near Lincoln Avenue and College Court, Urbana, for domestic battery. Police were initially called to a university residence hall in Urbana for a report of a domestic incident, and Suraji was located a short time later leaving the area.

    A woman reported the rear license plate from her vehicle had been stolen between Thursday and Saturday at U. of I. parking lot E-14 near First Street and Kirby Avenue, Champaign.

    Anthony Miller, 23, of Urbana, was arrested at 12:41 a.m. Saturday near Sixth and Green streets, Champaign, for an outstanding city of Urbana warrant for failure to appear in court. Miller’s vehicle initially was stopped because he was illegally squealing the tires.

    At 3:27 p.m. Thursday, a U. of I. student reported that she had been the victim of fraud in February. The student had paid $216 over the telephone to a company purporting to fix her computer. A week later, the company called back and offered a partial refund. The student was directed to share bank account information with the company, and later found money had been removed from her account.

    Charles R. Patterson, 27, of Champaign, was arrested at 9:39 a.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of West Green Street, Urbana, for driving with a revoked license. Patterson’s vehicle initially was stopped because he made an illegal turn.

    At 1:40 p.m. Wednesday at University High School, 1212 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana, a high school employee reported that a university-owned laptop computer had been stolen. The computer, which has an estimated value of $300 and had been checked out to a student, was left unattended outside of a locker.

    At 4:50 p.m. Wednesday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, store security personnel reported that various office supplies had been stolen Feb. 15. A college-aged female was observed on security cameras concealing the items, which have a total retail value of $60.69.

    A U. of I. employee reported that someone had stolen a booklet at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign. A college-aged woman was observed on security cameras concealing the booklet, which has a retail value of $4.95.

    A U. of I. student reported that his wallet had been stolen between 11:20-11:30 p.m. Tuesday from the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The wallet, which contained cash and banking cards, was left unattended near a basketball court.

    A U. of I. student reported cash had been stolen between 4:30-5:30 p.m. Monday from his locked locker at Campus Recreation Center East, 1102 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana.

    A U. of I. employee reported that a burl had been sawn off a bald cypress tree on university property in the 2700 block of South Race Street, Urbana. The tree was damaged during the theft, which occurred between Feb. 13-24. The burl, which is a large knot in the tree valued for its unique grain, has an estimated value of $100.

    Brandon J. Robinson, 19, of Chicago, was arrested at 9:24 a.m. Monday at Barton Hall, 1205 S. Fourth St., Champaign, for delivery of cannabis, obstructing identification and trespassing on state-supported property. Police initially were called by a resident adviser who smelled cannabis emanating from a student’s room. Robinson, who was in the room, gave police a fake name and identification when prompted. Officers found cannabis packaged for sale in Robinson’s pockets, and a records check revealed he previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for U. of I. property.

    At 9:38 p.m. Feb. 21 near Second and Green streets, Champaign, U. of I student Adam J. Holtz, 19, of Champaign, was a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for possessing more than 10 grams of cannabis. Holtz was a passenger in a vehicle which initially was stopped because officers smelled cannabis emanating from the vehicle. Police found cannabis in a backpack belonging to Holtz.

    Jacob L. Reed, 22, of Urbana, was arrested at 2:56 a.m. Sunday near Wright and Green streets, Urbana, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Reed’s vehicle initially was stopped for drifting in and out of the lane.

    At 12:16 a.m. Saturday near Noyes Laboratory, 505 S. Mathews Ave., Urbana, U. of I. student Alec M. Higgason, 19, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for theft. Police were called by witnesses who saw Higgason attempting to steal bikes from a rack. Police stopped Higgason as he was riding away from the area on a stolen bicycle.

    At 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, a U. of I. employee reported that a communications radio belonging to the Fire Service Institute had been stolen Jan. 28 at the Windsor of Savoy, 401 Burwash Ave., Savoy, Illinois. It was reported that the radio, which has an estimated value of $5,053, had been taken during a training exercise.

    A man reported that someone had entered his vehicle on Thursday and took his wallet and cash. The vehicle was parked at a meter in the 100 block of South Gregory Street, Urbana. It is not known if the vehicle was locked.

    A U. of I. student reported at 8:53 p.m. Thursday that various items in a room at Oglesby Hall, 1005 College Court, Urbana, had been damaged by one of the room’s residents. The estimated cost to replace the items is $90.

    At 6:27 p.m. Thursday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Urbana, U. of I. student John P. Crean, 19, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. Store security personnel called police after seeing Crean attempt to leave the store without paying for headphones with a retail value of $19.99.

    A U. of I. student reported that his wallet had been stolen between 8:20-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Ikenberry Dining Center, 301 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign. The wallet containing cash and debit cards was left unattended in a public area. An unauthorized transaction was made with the student’s debit card shortly after it was stolen.

    A U. of I. student reported that a ring had been stolen around 9 p.m. Wednesday at Grainger Engineering Library, 1301 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana. The ring, which has an estimated value of $500, was left unattended in a restroom.

    At 2:27 p.m. Wednesday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, U. of I. student Abigail Lagunov, 21, of Riverwoods, Illinois, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. Store security personnel called police after seeing Lagunov attempt to leave the store without paying for a course packet with a retail value of $26.98.

    At 1:05 p.m. Wednesday at the U. of I. Public Safety Building, 1110 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana, a U. of I. student reported that someone had made an unauthorized charge to her bank account. The charge was a tuition payment to another student’s account in the amount of $19,655.

    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between Feb. 16-21 at Bousfield Hall, 1214 S. First St., Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $198, was locked to a rack.

    A U. of I. student reported a wheel from his bicycle had been stolen overnight Jan. 18 from the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana. The wheel, which has an estimated value of $80, was attached to a bicycle locked to a rack.

    A U. of I. student reported being sexually assaulted at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at a university residence hall.

    Marvin L. Johnson Jr., 24, of Champaign, was arrested at 5:24 p.m. Saturday near Mathews Avenue and Oregon Street, Urbana, for an outstanding city of Champaign warrant for failure to appear in court. A police officer recognized Johnson and was aware of the warrant.

    An employee of Espresso Royale in Grainger Engineering Library, 1301 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana, reported that cash had been stolen sometime Wednesday from the back room of the café. The cash was left unattended outside of a safe.

    Tyrone M. McNeil, 29, of Tolono, Illinois, was arrested at 6:13 p.m. Sunday near Green and Locust streets, Champaign, for an outstanding city of Champaign warrant for failure to appear in court. A police officer recognized McNeil and was aware of the warrant.

    Aja A. Jones, 23, of Flossmoor, Illinois, was arrested at 2:52 a.m. Friday near Green and First streets, Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Jones’ vehicle initially was stopped because she was driving at night without headlights.
