    At 2:43 p.m. Monday, a U. of I. student reported that he had been the victim of deceptive practices. The student arranged the sale of a pair of shoes over the internet with someone whom he had never met in person. The buyer sent the student a check for more than the arranged sale price and instructed the student to cash the $1,850 check and return the money. After the student complied, the original check never cleared.

    At 5:19 p.m. April 18 at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana, a U. of I. student reported that money had been stolen between September and December from a bank account belonging to a registered student organization.

    A man reported his cellphone had been stolen between 3-9 p.m. Saturday during an event at Illinois Track Stadium, 1300 W. St. Mary’s Road, Urbana. The cellphone, which has an estimated value of $650, was left unattended in a public area.

    A U. of I. student reported that a $150 cellphone and other items were stolen between 6:45-7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Campus Recreation Center East, 1102 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana. The items were left in an unlocked locker.

    At 8:51 p.m. Tuesday, it was reported that a U. of I. student was sexually abused April 2 at a university residence hall in Urbana by a person known to the victim

    Marcus T. Dishman, 35, of Champaign, was arrested at 11:17 p.m. Monday near First Street and Stadium Drive, Champaign, for an outstanding city of Champaign warrant for damaging property. Police initially were called by a witness who claimed Dishman had fired a gun into the air. Dishman did not have a firearm when police found him.

    A U. of I. employee reported that his vehicle had been damaged between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts parking garage, 500 S. Goodwin Ave., Urbana. The estimated cost to repair the dent and scratches is $1,500.

    On March 3, a U. of I. employee reported that a $600 goal post pad had been stolen from Memorial Stadium, 1402 S. First St., Champaign. Security cameras show a group of people stealing the pad at 10:15 p.m. March 1.

    At 3:30 a.m. Saturday at Presence Covenant Medical Center, 1400 W. Park St., Urbana, U. of I. student Deborah O. Agoye, 18, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for aggravated battery. Agoye reportedly kicked an emergency medical technician while being transported by ambulance to the hospital.

    Hannah M. Barringer, 24, of Urbana, was arrested at 2:21 a.m. Saturday near Wright and Daniel streets, Urbana, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Barringer’s vehicle initially was stopped because she was driving on a sidewalk.

    Chad M. Evans, 28, of Mattoon, Illinois, was arrested at 10:12 p.m. Thursday at State Farm Center, 1800 S. First St., Champaign, for domestic battery. Police responded to a disturbance during a concert.

    A U. of I. employee reported that a glass door panel had been cracked overnight Wednesday at Altgeld Hall, 1409 W. Green St., Urbana. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $300.

    At 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, it was reported that a U. of I. student had been sexually assaulted around 2 a.m. Dec. 10, 2016, at a university residence hall in Champaign by a person known to the victim.

    U. of I. student Erik J. Steele, 18, and Badieye M. Tandia, 20, were arrested at 9:14 a.m. Wednesday at their apartment in the 100 block of East Green Street, Champaign, after detectives identified the two as being involved in cases of theft and fraud. On March 6, Steele arranged a transaction where Tandia would pick up a pair of designer shoes at the Student Dining and Residential Programs building, 301 E. Gregory Drive, and pay $2,000 to the seller, but the payment never cleared. Steele then arranged to sell the shoes for $200 to a buyer in Minnesota, and he collected the cash but never mailed the shoes. Tandia also was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after police found him in possession of anxiety medication without a prescription.

    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen April 9 from Illinois Street Residence Hall, 1012 W. Illinois St., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $300, was left unlocked outside of the residence hall.

    Three women reported that their vehicles had been entered without permission Sunday at the I Hotel and Conference Center, 1900 S. First St., Champaign. Various items with a total estimated value of $1,262 were stolen. It is not known if the vehicles were locked.

    Four U. of I. students reported that their cellphones, banking cards and other miscellaneous items had been stolen between 7-7:45 p.m. Sunday at the athletic fields near First Street and Stadium Drive, Champaign. The total estimated value of the stolen items, which were left unattended near the field, is $2,440.

    A woman reported that her purse had been stolen between 3:20-3:40 p.m. Saturday at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana. The purse, which has an estimated value of $50, was near a table where the woman was working.

    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen Friday or Saturday from Leonard Hall, 1005 S. Lincoln Ave., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $350, was locked to a rack.

    A U. of I. student reported that someone had made $850 in unauthorized charges to his lost debit card between March 5-31.

    A U. of I. student reported that someone had unscrewed the license plate and removed a parking pass from his motorized scooter between March 26 and April 1. The scooter was parked in a lot near Snyder Hall, 206 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign.

    Broderick T. White, 25, of Champaign, was arrested at 2:12 a.m. Sunday near Second and John streets, Champaign, for delivering cannabis and obstructing identification. White’s vehicle initially was stopped because he made a turn without yielding to oncoming traffic. After a police dog indicated there were drugs in the vehicle, an officer found eight individually packaged bags of cannabis in White’s pocket. He also was arrested for two outstanding warrants from Champaign County and Rantoul, Illinois, both for failure to appear in court.

    At 2:17 p.m. Wednesday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, U. of I. student Jeffrey S. Chao, 20, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. Store security personnel called police after seeing Chao attempt to leave without paying for an online textbook access code with a retail value of $114.99.

    Courtney L. Conn, 31, of Springfield, Illinois, was arrested at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of East John Street, Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Police were called after a witness saw Conn driving on the Quad and eventually stopping after hitting a curb near Sixth and John streets.

    Armani K. Buie, 23, of Champaign, was arrested at 1:04 a.m. Wednesday near Fourth Street and Gregory Drive, Champaign, for an outstanding city of Champaign warrant and a city of Urbana warrant, both for failure to appear in court. Buie’s vehicle initially was stopped because he disobeyed a stop sign.

    At 7:48 p.m. Tuesday at Wassaja Hall, 1202 S. First St., Champaign, U. of I. student Eric W. Qian, 19, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court on a charge of theft over $500. Qian is accused of stealing another student's wallet on March 11 at the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign.

    Between Monday night and Tuesday morning, a U. of I. employee's bicycle was stolen from outside of Noyes Lab, 505 S. Mathews Ave., Urbana. The bicycle, which was valued at $500, was chained and locked to a rack.

    A woman reported that someone had struck her vehicle and drove away around 6:23 p.m. March 25 in the 600 block of East Kirby Avenue, Champaign. The estimated cost to repair the damage was not available.

    At 1:36 a.m. Saturday at Lincoln Avenue Residence Hall, 1005 S. Lincoln Ave., Urbana, Elijah Sall, 19, of Galva, Illinois, was issued a no-trespass notice to U. of I. property. Officers were initially dispatched to remove a disorderly person.

    An unattended wallet containing identification, a debit card and cash was stolen sometime after 4 p.m. Friday by the basketball courts of the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign.

    A 2011 Nissan Versa belonging to a U. of I. student was reported stolen from campus parking lot E-14, located near the corner of South First Street and West Kirby Avenue, Champaign, between March 27-31.

    U of I. student Yupeng Yang, 20, of Urbana, was arrested at 11:29 p.m. Thursday near First and Daniel streets, Champaign, for driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured vehicle and speeding. Yang’s vehicle initially was stopped because he disobeyed a stop sign.

    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between March 17-26 from Trelease Hall, 901 College Court, Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $200, was locked to a light pole.

    Shony F. Coleman, 37, of Champaign, was arrested at 5:52 p.m. Tuesday near Fifth Street and Armory Avenue, Champaign, for an outstanding Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. A police officer recognized Coleman and was aware of the warrant.

    Andrew J. Baymon, 20, of Urbana, was arrested at 6:33 p.m. Monday near Fifth Street and University Avenue, Champaign, for an outstanding city of Champaign warrant for failure to appear in court. Baymon’s vehicle initially was stopped because he was speeding.

    Wynita M. Johnson, 23, and Clarence J. Faust, 22, both of Champaign, were arrested at 1:13 a.m. Sunday near Goodwin Avenue and Dublin Street, Urbana, for outstanding Champaign County warrants for failure to appear in court. Johnson’s vehicle initially was stopped after a records check indicated she had an outstanding warrant.

    At 6:13 p.m. Sunday, Jane C. Stoltey, 70, of Champaign, was mailed a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for theft. Stoltey was identified on security camera video as the person who stole a bicycle March 19 from the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana.
